Spring has sprung! It’s hard not to get caught up in the desire to spend more time outside than in! Just like we prep our gardens and yards for the warm months ahead, we should be prepping our skin, too.

Moisturizer that attracts water molecules in winter can clog pores in warmer weather, so it is important that if your skin is a bit oily or acne-prone, you look for one that is lighter, water-based and preferably contains SPF and moisturizer in one. Zinc and Titanium-based products are best to reduce oil; our Elta MD products are a perfect choice. Additionally, our laser facial packages can help to keep breakouts at bay by helping to kill the bacteria that accumulate in our pores because of increased perspiration and oil glands that are more active during warmer weather. Make sure to drink plenty of water each day, too. This can help to hydrate your body and skin and reduce redness.

Remember the rest of your skin as well; make sure to exfoliate arms and legs with a mild scrub or a mechanical tool like the Clarisonic Pro at least 2 or 3 times per week. This helps to slough off dead skin cells and to keep skin glowing. Remember to use sunscreen and to regularly re-apply to keep skin healthy. Finally, don’t forget those feet and toes! Bright colors like Coral and Turquoise are big for summer pedicures; keep skin well moisturized and use lactic or glycolic-acid based products to aid in penetration of dead layers of skin to dissolve them.

Enjoy!
