Why Are Brows Important?

Eyebrows have a major impact on the way you look. They frame your eyes and entire face; poorly shaped or too-thin brows can make you look aged or unwell. At Flawless Med Spa, our aestheticians are experienced brow artists. Every day, they assess a variety of faces and tailor the perfect pair of eyebrows for each one. Whether you choose microblading, microshading, or powder brows, our expert team ensures your brows are custom-designed and beautifully suited to enhance your features.

Microblading

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique that creates minute, hair-like strokes to fill in sparse or thinning brows or line and define the shape of the eyes. Microblading can subtly transform your face, making you appear put together from the moment you wake up.

There are a wide variety of colors available to achieve your perfect shade, and brows can be shaped into whatever silhouette you desire.

What Happens During Microblading?

There are two parts to microblading. At your first appointment for permanent makeup in Albuquerque at Flawless Med Spa, a highly trained and licensed aesthetician will work with you to design your brows. She will discuss your preferences for color, shape, thickness, etc. Since many people want to have their treatment on the day of their consultation, we ask that you come in with how you like to style your brows and liner. Feel free to bring photos.

The aesthetician will numb your brow area and then outline, trace, and apply the pigment with a special microblading technique. The second part of the procedure happens 4-8 weeks later. At this time, we will assess the area after it has healed. It is normal for some spots to require further filling, which is performed during the second visit.

Microblading Post-Treatment Care

It is very important to follow the aftercare procedures for the best results. For 5-7 days, avoid direct sun and contact with water. Do not use any cleansers on your face or go into a sauna and/or sit in hot steam until you are fully healed. You will be given an antibiotic ointment that needs to be reapplied daily.

This is very important! The treated area will scab and peel over the course of 5-7 days, and the area needs to be kept moist. It is normal for the pigment to appear slightly darker when first applied. This can be touched up if necessary.

Is Microblading For Me?

Instead of spending time filling in your eyebrows and eyeliner in the mornings, what if you got to use that extra time to sleep in? Microblading is a custom permanent makeup procedure that will make you look effortlessly put together all the time. People with the following conditions often pursue microblading:

  • Over-plucked brows
  • Over-waxed brows
  • Brow thinning due to aging or genetics
  • Patchy brows
  • Naturally thin brows

    Microshading

Microshading is a semi-permanent makeup technique that uses a tattoo machine to fill in areas of the brow, resulting in a more consistent look. Unlike microblading, which involves tattooing full strokes along the browline, microshading uses small points to "shade" sparse areas. Instead of simulating individual hairs, microshading achieves a fuller brow appearance by lightly pigmented shading with a fine-tipped needle. This results in a soft, shaded appearance similar to the effect of eyebrow powder or pencil. Microshading is ideal if you prefer a makeup-like brow look that’s low-maintenance and not as bold as an ombre brow. It’s the middle ground between microblading and powder brow and is suitable for all skin types, including those with sensitive or oily skin.

    Microshading vs Micrblading

If you want fuller, more defined brows without daily effort, microshading offers a long-lasting solution, typically lasting 1-3 years. This technique is perfect for those seeking a less invasive option than microblading. Those that generally pursue microshading:

    • Desire a fuller, makeup-like brow appearance
    • Have sensitive skin or oily
    • Want a low-maintenance solution for well-defined brows
    • Prefer a less invasive technique compared to microblading
    • Have sparse or uneven brows
    • Seek long-lasting results (1-3 years) without daily makeup application

    Powder Brows

Powder brows, also known as ombre powder brows, are ideal for those who prefer a very bold, completely filled-in brow look. This semi-permanent technique uses a tattoo machine to create a soft, shaded effect, similar to the appearance of makeup.

This method is especially suitable for individuals seeking a defined and well-groomed brow, that mimics a thick penciled-in brow.

    Are Powder Brows for Me?

Powder brows are perfect for a look that mimics makeup. Ideal for those who fill in their eyebrows daily, this semi-permanent technique offers a long-lasting solution with minimal effort. If you desire well-defined, consistent brows without the daily application of brow products, powder brows are a great choice. Powder brows could be preferable for individuals with oily skin or larger pores, providing a softer, powdered, or softly penciled appearance. Microblading might suit those with dry or normal skin better, as it can create a more natural look with hair-like strokes. Maintenance is relatively simple. Carefully rinse them with a mild soap. Vaseline can be used as a barrier against water during washing or showering, but not as a moisturizer. If your brows get wet, pat them dry gently.
