Smooth and Plump with Juvederm

If you struggle with fine lines, facial folds, thin lips, or hollow cheeks due to the aging process, you might be interested in dermal fillers. Dermal fillers help regain a more youthful appearance without surgery. The Juvéderm collection continues to evolve unique products for specific areas of the face, with results lasting up to 18 months.  Just as an artist uses various mediums like watercolors, pastels,  and acrylics to paint a masterpiece, our Flawless injectors use different fillers to achieve optimal results.

What Is Juvéderm?

Juvéderm fillers are made with hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally-occurring substance that adds volume to the skin. These injectables have varying degrees of thickness and provide anti-aging results to patients with a variety of concerns, and without surgery. All Juvéderm fillers are FDA-approved and contain lidocaine within the injection to help make patients feel more comfortable.

The Juvéderm suite includes:

  • Volbella XC: This is a natural solution for thinning lips and fine lines around the mouth; ideal for fine lines caused by sipping coffee, drinking from a water bottle, or vaping.
  • Vollure XC: This filler is ideal for the forehead, lips, and the backs of the hands because it leaves a smooth, soft appearance.
  • Voluma XC: The sturdiest filler in the Juvederm Family; used to add structure to the face and enhance volume in the cheeks, jawline and chin.
  • Ultra & Ultra Plus XC: The original Juvederm filler; a multi-purpose and affordable option that adds volume to thinning lips and reduces the appearance of folds around the nose and the mouth.

Ultra XC & Ultra Plus XC Get A Selfie-Ready Pout

Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC can give you full, luscious lips and minimize wrinkles and lines around the mouth. The main difference between the two is that Ultra Plus XC is thicker, which makes it the better choice for treating folds around the nose and mouth. Both last from 9-12 months.

Are Juvéderm Filler Treatments Painful?

All Juvéderm fillers at our Albuquerque clinic contain lidocaine, which is a numbing agent. That said, when injected, Juvéderm can feel like a small pinch, especially in areas close to the bone (like the jawline). If you’re worried about pain, we can use a numbing cream to prepare you before your injection.

Is There Any Downtime?

There is minimal downtime associated with your procedure. Many people return to work, social activities, and other daily routines immediately after their Juvéderm filler session.

There is always a possibility of bruising which can take up to 10 days to heal, but most people have a little redness and are tender at the injection site; this dissipates within 24-48 hours.

What Is The Benefit Of Juvéderm Fillers?

Fillers are a great alternative to invasive surgical procedures that require extensive recovery periods and deep pockets. Facelifts and neck lifts are often not necessary if you have access to highly trained nurses who have a deep understanding of facial anatomy and are experienced injectors. In fact, many plastic surgeons offer non-surgical facelifts that rely entirely on fillers to recontour and rejuvenate the face.

How is Juvéderm different from Botox?

Juvéderm and Botox treat different signs of aging. Juvéderm is a hyaluronic acid filler that restores lost volume and fills in creases — think hollow cheeks, thin lips, and nasolabial folds. Botox is a neuromodulator that relaxes the muscles causing expression lines like crow's feet and forehead wrinkles. Many of our Albuquerque patients combine both in one visit for a more complete result.

How should I prepare for my Juvéderm appointment?

To reduce your risk of bruising, we recommend avoiding blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E for about a week beforehand, and skipping alcohol for 24 hours prior. Let your injector know if you have an upcoming event, dental work, or any history of cold sores, since we may adjust your timing or treatment plan.

What should I avoid after getting Juvéderm fillers?

For the first 24 to 48 hours, avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat like saunas and hot tubs, and prolonged sun exposure. Try not to massage or press on the treated area so the filler settles where it was placed. Sleeping on your back the first night can also help minimize swelling.

Can Juvéderm be dissolved if I don't like my results?

Yes. Because Juvéderm is made with hyaluronic acid, it can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This is one of the biggest advantages of HA fillers over permanent options — your results are fully reversible. It's rarely needed, but it's reassuring to know the option exists, especially if this is your first filler treatment.

How much Juvéderm filler will I need?

That depends on the area being treated and how much volume you've lost. Lip enhancement often takes a single syringe, while restoring cheek volume typically requires two or more. During your free consultation at our Albuquerque med spa, your injector will assess your facial anatomy and goals, then recommend a plan and give you exact pricing before anything begins.
