Why Non-Surgical CoolSculpting® is a Great Option for Getting Rid of Stubborn Fat

We all have those parts of our body that we just don’t like. Problem areas, such as a double chin, stomach bulge, or those annoying love handles, can take a toll on your self-confidence. In many cases, they can even make you look much older than you actually are.

Although we can generally improve our body shape through diet and exercise, some areas of fat seem to resist even the most vigorous exercise programs — leading many of us to explore other options. While surgical procedures like liposuction used to be the only answer, a new FDA-approved, non-surgical option called CoolSculpting® is now available to target and permanently remove stubborn fat.

With noninvasive fat reduction treatments growing in popularity in the United States (there was a 7% increase in such treatments in 2017 alone), our highly trained aesthetic care team here at Flawless Med Spa in Albuquerque, New Mexico would like to offer you more insight on CoolSculpting. Read on to find out why this popular treatment could be an excellent option for you.

What is CoolSculpting exactly?

CoolSculpting is not a weight loss program. Rather, it’s body contouring. So, while it’s not a free pass for splurging, it’s a great way to address areas that haven’t responded to exercise and diet alone.

Specifically, CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved, in-office treatment that carefully targets and shocks fat cells using cooling energy. After the treatment is over, your body naturally processes and eliminates the damaged fat cells over the next four to six months. Although patients may see some changes immediately after the procedure, the full effect will be more noticeable about six months later.

CoolSculpting eliminates love handles and other stubborn fat

One of the great things about CoolSculpting is that it can tackle stubborn fat stored in a variety of areas, including:

  • Abdomen
  • Upper arms
  • Beneath the buttocks
  • Under the chin
  • Flanks (love handles)
  • Under the jawline
  • Thighs

Although you won’t get new fat cells in the area treated, you can develop fat in other areas if you don’t eat a balanced diet and exercise.

It’s minimally invasive, with no anesthesia required

At Flawless Med Spa, we’re committed to providing our patients with effective solutions that are also minimally invasive. We take pride in offering our patients impressive, faster results without the need for complicated surgery.

One checkmark in the plus column for CoolSculpting is that, unlike liposuction, it doesn’t require surgery. There’s also no need for anesthesia, since it’s done right in the office.

Depending on how many areas are being treated, the procedure can take 30 minutes to an hour. More than one session may be necessary.

There’s almost zero pain and no downtime

Most of us would love to get rid of stubborn fat — but who has the time to take off from work? Don’t worry. With CoolSculpting, no recovery or downtime is necessary.

Most patients also don’t report any pain during CoolSculpting, but will experience some intense cold and mild discomfort — like a tugging, aching, tingling feeling at the treatment site during the procedure. Immediately after the treatment, some patients will also experience temporary bruising and tenderness in the treatment area, which goes away after a few weeks.
