PicoSkin Skin Rejuvenation Albuquerque
Living in New Mexico is wonderful but living at 5,000 feet above sea level can be hard on your skin. Over time, our skin becomes damaged and can result in pigmentation and elasticity changes. One of the most common questions we get from our patients is how they can even out the color of their skin and minimize the dark spots. Our PicoSure skin laser facials are ideal for this because we can now treat Hispanic & certain ethnic skin types for pigment changes.
PicoSure laser treatments are the rage in Beverly Hills because they deliver outstanding results with no downtime. The treatments are incredible because they remove unwanted pigment, enhance skin texture, reduce pore size and signal the body to produce collagen, which helps with fine lines. We recommend 3 treatments scheduled every 2-4 weeks.
The wonderful part of the Pico Laser is that there is virtually no downtime. There is redness and slight swelling that lasts up to 3 hours but then dissipates the next day. This is ideal for people with all skin types who want to address skin tone & texture on their face, arms, hands & Décolleté. Flawless Med Spa is the first and only med spa to offer the PicoSure technology in New Mexico.
How It Works
Our Pico Laser delivers ultra-short pulses that penetrate and break down damaged skin cell layers until a smoother and healthier skin is achieved. PicoSure lasers were developed by Cynosure after 13 years of research and development. Initially, this technology and the picosure laser was used by dermatologists to remove tattoos. However, over time they found that it was able to remove pigment in Hispanic, Asian & African American skin types without damaging the surrounding tissue. This was a tremendous breakthrough because many lasers cannot be used on people with darker skin. The best part of it is that there is no downtime as most people are red but are fine the next day.
How To Prepare
In preparation, it is important that you keep the area being treated out of the sun. Please discontinue topical prescription medications 7 days before treatment (like Retin-A, Differin, Trilumen). We also suggest that you stop using all topical treatments (like Vitamin C) the day before your treatment.
What To Expect
Prior to every treatment, we will ask you to tell us about any new and existing medications you are taking. This is very important. We want you to tell us everything when it comes to vitamins, supplements, hormones, etc…because some can make you sensitive to light. On the day of your appointment, the nurse will clean the area, cool the skin, give you protective eye wear and deliver the treatment.
The treatment will be last 30-45 minutes. We will divide the area up into areas and do several passes with the laser focusing on the areas of most importance.
It is important that you inform the nurse if you need to take a rest. It is common to take a break before moving onto different areas. After the treatment, the nurse will spend some time cooling the skin and then apply hyaluronic and sunscreen.
Numbing – Flawless offers topical numbing. It can be applied 30 minutes prior to your treatment. There is an extra charge of $40 at each appointment for this service.
While your skin repairs itself, we recommend that you wear a sunscreen like Elta MD everyday and apply NeoCutis Hyalis as the skin heals. Eventually, we encourage you to incorporate a retinol & vitamin C into your skin regimen. If you have any questions, please call the Spa. You can request another copy of post care instructions at anytime.
Appointments will be scheduled 2-4 weeks apart depending on patient and membership.
