Consistency is Key!

May 28th, 2014 • Posted by Marci • Permalink

When it comes to just about anything, consistency is the key to success.

When we do things consistently, they become a habit. Usually when things are habitual, we do them without even having to make a decision whether or not to do them in the first place! Sometimes, we decide that things are not successful before we have established a consistent routine. This is true with new products, treatments, exercise, etc. Until you have tried something new for a period of time and in a consistent manner, you can't decide if it works or not. How do you measure effectiveness if what you are measuring isn't performed consistently? To truly measure whether something works or not, you should give it at least six months before judging it a success or failure.

Once you establish a routine, the momentum of that routine helps to continue taking steps in the right direction. Like anything else, getting started on something is sometimes very hard—just try picking one (positive!) thing to make a habit of and remember to give it enough time to create consistency and success! This can be as simple as your skincare routine. Washing your face, applying the appropriate serums & products for specific treatment areas and sunscreen/moisturizer are great for your skin and you’ll thank yourself down the road because you’ll look younger, too!

Choosing Happiness

May 20th, 2014 • Posted by Marci • Permalink

We have all heard the idea that happiness is a choice; if you choose to be happy, you will be.

Most people think that success brings happiness--“I’ll be happy when I…” is a very common thought process. The idea of the American dream is that if you work hard, you will be rewarded with success/happiness. Unfortunately, our brains are not wired this way. Happiness comes BEFORE success, not the other way around. When we are happy, we feel good about ourselves. How often have you felt good until you step on a scale and see a number that you don’t like? This is because you have decided to put more emphasis on that “magic number” than on how you FELT before you saw it!

So many outside influences in our culture are negative ones—our brains are full of ideas about what success means, how to achieve it and mostly, how we DON’T look, act or live like those whom we see as “successful”. As a culture, we have created goals that are nearly impossible to achieve and we place a huge emphasis on a narrow definition of what happiness is.

When I start to think about the people in my own life who seem to be truly happy, they are not necessarily the skinniest, prettiest or wealthiest. They are not often people whose lives are untouched by tragedy, trouble or challenges. In truth, most of them are people who have experienced loss in some way or another. They are grateful for the life they have and strive to make the world a better place for those around them. This doesn’t mean Angelina Jolie altruism; it means those whose happiness is multiplied by making others happy.

There is no time like the present! Take a few minutes each day to express gratitude for your life and the blessings in it. Quiet your mind and bring positive feelings to the surface. Amazing things can happen when you prioritize the good in life more than the setbacks and when you help to encourage that feeling in others!

Too True - I believe that happiness is an inner truth that when we look at what we have - not what we don't have we really see thing much more clearly. My mother always said, " I cried because I had no shoes - until I met a man who had no feet"

Va Va Va Voluma!

May 16th, 2014 • Posted by Heather Badal • Permalink

First there was Botox, then there was Juvederm and now we have Voluma. Voluma is the newest sister in the Allergan Family. Much like Juvederm, Voluma is a non-surgical hyaluronic filler. However, Voluma is unique in that it is the only filler to have FDA approval to instantly add volume to the cheek area and it will last up to 2 years.

One of the difficulties of aging is gravity. Yes, it is the force that keeps us on this planet but let’s face it….it pulls everything else down too. Unfortunately, our cheek pads are not immune to gravity and as our cheeks drop, it can accentuate the nasolabial folds around out nose and mouth. (Or as I call them in my non-medical talk, “the marionette lines.)

Voluma can fix this, instantly! Voluma is thicker then Juvederm and will actually volumize the cheek area to create a more youthful and well-rested appearance.

Voluma has been used in Europe for years and Flawless Skin Spa was one of the first Medical Spas to get the product this year after it was FDA approved in December of 2013. Pam and Darlene have been busy training with physicians from Scottsdale and Beverly Hills to hone their techniques and are ready to go!

As a special to our patients, we will be offering a 15% discount on Voluma for the next 16 syringes that are purchased. Normally the price for a syringe is $825, but with this special (AND any Brilliant Distinction coupons you might have) the price is roughly $700 or less. That is a $125 savings. I know you still might be cringing at that price point but remember, it lasts for up to 2 years! Twice as long as Juvederm.
